The Council focuses on growth of India’s energy sector with coal meeting most of this demand followed by renewable energy.
A major focus area of the Council is non-conventional energy which is presently the second most significant source of domestic power production. The Council works to promote non-conventional energy sources to secure sustainable development.
The Council has organisedan annual East India Energy Forum since 2018. The primary agenda of the Energy Forum is to create New Vision for future of Power Sector in Eastern region. The Council creates the platform to encourage more private public partnership in energy sector across Eastern India. The forum includes a gamut of experts ranging from Government dignitaries, environmentalists, private sector innovators and academicians specializing in non-conventional energy.
