About the Council


Agriculture & Horticulture Council at MCCI focuses on the different issues related to farming & horticulture sector and their challenges. Over the years, considerable efforts have been put into devising policies & suggestions that would increase farm income, productivity and global competitiveness of Indian Agriculture. MCCI has played a pivotal role in defining the agri-policy framework of the nation.

Over the years, through its long standing collaboration with Department of Agriculture, GoWB, the Council has worked assiduously to promote public-private partnership in various parts of agriculture value chain including agri warehousing, farm mechanisation, extension, secondary agriculture, risk management and agri-marketing reforms.

 

In partnership with the Department of Agriculture, Government of West Bengal, MCCI organizes Agriculture Conclave, a flagship forum that brings prominent Policy Makers and Industry Captains together for facilitation and meaningful discussion.  It also brings together modern farm technologies at one platform and aid promotion of farm mechanization.

 

The key objectives of the MCCI Agriculture Council are : 

  • Identify and address the major bottlenecks that hinder the growth of Indian agriculture and horticulture
  • Organise Stakeholder consultation including the Central and the State Governments to catalyze the necessary policy changes needed to make Agri and allied sectors more vibrant and competitive
  • Address the policies relating to production, procurement, pricing and distribution, rising Minimum Support Prices, Subsidy system, regulated domestic markets, infrastructure facilities, Productivity, Value addition and Exports
